Objectiu de la convocatòria
ESCMID has evolved to become Europe’s leading society in clinical microbiology and infectious diseases with members from all European countries and all continents. For more than 30 years, ESCMID has been an influential component in the professional lives of microbiologists and infectious disease specialists and now reaches more than 33’000 members and affiliated members around the world.
Característiques principals
The Young Investigator Award recognizes outstanding research by younger colleagues in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The Young Investigator Award acknowledges excellence in research and stimulates further work at a top scientific level. The ESCMID Scientific Affairs Officer will present the award at ECCMID 2022.

Requisits
  • Nominees for the award should be born on or after 1 January 1982.
  • Appropriate research may be based on laboratory investigations, clinical trials, animal studies, or a combination thereof.
  • Nominees must have a valid Full or Young Scientist ESCMID membership.
  • Members of the ESCMID Executive Committee are not eligible.
  • Self-applications are not accepted.

    During ECCMID 2022, the Young Investigator Awardee(s) will be honoured with a special session. Each awardee will be asked to give a 15-minute lecture on the topic of their main field of research. The award winners will be announced through all ESCMID communication channels. The prize is endowed with EUR 5,000 to be used at the awardees’ discretion.
    Documentació
    All documentation is to be submitted electronically. When submitting, please have the following documentation ready and make sure you have uploaded the correct documents.One PDF file (NomineeSurname.pdf, max. 4MB) including documents in the following order:
  • CV and proof of the nominee's age;
  • Complete list of publications, in which up to five publications over the last three years should be highlighted (in bold) to exemplify the nominee’s excellent work;
  • Description of the candidate, her/his career, her/his research interests and personal contributions to the various research projects she or he has been participating in.
  • Two letters of support from individuals outside of the nominating institution. Please submit as PDFs including the corresponding supporter name in each file name (max 4MB);
  • A colour photograph of at least 4 x 6 cm with 300 dpi resolution for publication (NomineeSurname_NomineeFirstname.tiff, .eps or .jpg, max. 4MB).
